Onsite ILO Chest X-Rays in Melbourne
ILOXAUS brings mobile ILO chest X-rays to worksites across Greater Melbourne. Your crew is imaged on location and every X-ray is classified to the ILO standard by a NIOSH-certified B Reader radiologist.
Why Melbourne worksites screen on site
Melbourne’s major tunnel programs, construction sites, quarries on the city fringe and stone workshops employ a large workforce exposed to silica dust. Screening at the site or workshop avoids cross-town clinic trips and gets the whole crew imaged in one visit.
In Victoria, high risk crystalline silica work needs a hazard control statement before it starts, and employers must provide health monitoring where silica exposure is reasonably likely to affect a worker’s health.

NIOSH-certified B Reader · ILO classification
ILO classification by a NIOSH-certified B Reader
An image on its own is not a health monitoring record. Every chest X-ray we take is read and classified against the ILO International Classification of Radiographs of Pneumoconioses by a NIOSH-certified B Reader radiologist, so the result is consistent and defensible for your records, for regulators and for your workers. Single ILO reads and dual reads with adjudication are both available.

Health monitoring duties in Melbourne
WorkSafe Victoria regulates most workplaces, including quarries, under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations. High risk crystalline silica work requires a hazard control statement, and engineered stone work that is still permitted is treated as high risk crystalline silica work.
Where silica exposure is reasonably likely to have an adverse effect on a worker’s health, employers must provide health monitoring, with reports prepared by a registered medical practitioner and records kept for at least 30 years. We supply ILO-classified chest X-rays on site. Confirm your obligations with WorkSafe Victoria or your occupational physician.
Frequently asked questions
Do you come to our site, or do workers have to visit a clinic?
Our mobile unit comes to you. We set up at your Melbourne worksite and image your crew on location, between tasks, so nobody is sent off site for half a day.
Who reads and classifies the X-rays?
Every X-ray is classified against the ILO International Classification of Radiographs of Pneumoconioses by a NIOSH-certified B Reader radiologist. You can choose a single ILO read, or a dual read with adjudication for an added layer of certainty.
How long does screening take per worker?
A few minutes each. We screen the whole crew in one visit and work around your roster, including night shifts and shutdown windows.
Which parts of Melbourne do you cover?
All of Greater Melbourne, from the CBD to the western, northern, eastern and south-eastern suburbs, plus Geelong and the Mornington Peninsula. We also travel throughout regional Victoria.
Can you screen stone workshop staff?
Yes. We set up at your workshop and image staff a few at a time, so production keeps moving.
How do we get the results?
Once each X-ray has been classified we report back to you and your workers, so the result can go straight into your health monitoring records.
